How You Can Help

Make a donation

Individual Gifts

Together, we are a multitude. Your gift, along with the generosity of others, gives SCDAA the power to affect change. You help us serve those with sickle cell in so many vital ways. Together, we can touch the lives of people that we may never meet, but can offer to them hope, energy and determination to lead their lives as we champion the way in finding a cure.

Workplace Gifts and Beyond

Everyday you are in contact with a "tree of giving". Those branches extend to the people you work with, your associates, your family, friends, neighbors, and the members of your church or place of worship...they are invested in you. Give them an opportunity to contribute to a cause that is closest to your heart.
Asking for help sometimes is a great gift in itself. Set a goal and raise that goal, within a specified time period, and you will encourage your "tree of giving" to extend their branches as well.

Employee Matching Programs

If you or anyone from your "tree of giving" is working with a corporation, that corporation may, in fact, match a gift that you give to SCDAA. Many companies are willing to give $1 for every $2 or $3 raised.
The Human Resources Department or Corporate Giving Department should be able to advise you of their requirements. Set a goal and raise that goal, within a specified time period and you will exhibit a commitment matched by a committed company as well.

Volunteer

Sickle cell disease is a disease that effects the red blood cells causing them not to function properly subsequently blocking blood flow. This painful condition affects everyone from babies through adults and research is consistently needed to eradicate this horrible condition. Volunteers are needed, please contact Ms. Marcia Taylor for the volunteer application, or additional questions at 503 249-1366 or email us portlandsicklecellanemia@hotmail.com or dapo.bakare@gmail.com

Endowments

Research, education and patient service endowments are available and are naming opportunities. Should you be interested in creating an endowment for a loved one, we would like to hear from you directly to discuss the size, nature and goal of your vision. These endowments are living legacies to those that have been so challenged throughout their lives.

Planned Giving Long Term Giving Charitable Remainder Trusts

There are many ways to give a gift and in turn enjoy the tax benefit of your generosity. Planned giving, long term giving and charitable remainder trusts are some of the ways to consider. If you are interested in exploring the avenue towards larger donations and the benefits of the same, we would be happy to share information with you.

In Kind Support

Equipment, furniture, paper, computers, printing costs, graphic costs, professional services such as public relations, event production and management, web site management are all valuable and can be donated instead of regular contributions. If you have access to some of the materials we need or services we use and can support us with this kind donation, we are waiting to speak with you.
